What a fun afternoon today with Dan and his daughter! Dan has quickly become a regular, coming from the Detroit area. Today he brought one for his daughters with him. It was her choice for class, so we made steel flowers. Next time, we'll do sharp things

Brian and his son were back in the forge today. This is their third knife they've made here. Brian was inspired by the Nakiri style kitchen knife, but tweaked the design a little while hammer and grinding. Jack started out making a Bowie knife, but he decided he like the shape that was happening while he was hammering. That's the fun part of making your own knife--you can make it however you want! Both of these knives are already beautiful! Next time we just need to add the handle materials.

12 hour days can be long unless you have amazing students like we always get in the forge! It was Troy's first time here. He was a lot of fun. He made a beautiful knife, and has started planning his next several knives

It was more last days of school for homeschoolers. Judah is in the Level 1 class, but missed the normal class. So he joined in on Kevin's Level 2 class. Judah completed his course by pulling all the skills together that he learned this year by making a scary cheese knife! He hot cut the fork prongs on the tip of the knife, so it is Charcuterie Board ready!
Kevin is going to be leading a class with some of his Boy Scout Troop in a couple weeks, so he decided to brush up on his railroad spike knifemaking. He is also working on his short sword, so he did a little multitasking too.

Breanna was back this afternoon to make more rings! The humidity might have been making us a little delirious 😂😂

Kyle and his son continued working on their daggers/short swords. Lots of progress was made. Next time, we put all the parts together and finish them.

Collin and Brennan came to the forge this afternoon to make Scary Cheese Knives! Collin was one of the video production crew from WGVU that came in February to film the segment for Kalamazoo Lively Arts. He scheduled a class for him and his girlfriend. They were a lot of fun! And made very shiny and very sharp knives!
