An 80th Birthday Celebration at the Forge! Three generations came together from all over the country, and kind of the world since Grandma is from Lithuania, to celebrate her 80th birthday by making Steel Flowers. This was the first time plasma cutting and welding for everyone. It was a great class, with everyone working together and trying new things.

Today was Alyssa's first time to the forge! She wanted to start at the beginning, and since she has had pet snakes, she decided to make a steel snake!

Last homeschool class of the school year! This is the Level 2, 14-17 yr olds. These four have grown so much over the last 2 years, literally and skill-wise! Today one of them finished his sword, and then made 3 tulips. The other three had artist's chocie for class today. We had a cleaver, a scary cheese knife, a Railroad spike Karambit, and a couple of very cool Keychains (a skull and a dragon).
A couple of them won't be back for Level 3 since they are graduating and doing some college courses. But it has been an absolute honor to have all of them at the forge, and teach them this art. I'm sure Matthew and Owen will continue on forging!

Jackson was back this afternoon to start a Billet Knife. It's his first cleaver. Great job getting it all shaped in the fire. Next time he will finish it up.

It was a "She's finally 9 class!" today!! Milena is the younger sister of one of the Level 2 homeschoolers. She has had to sit through all his fun for 2 years. But now she just turned 9 and was able to take her first class at the forge! She made the most beautiful, shiny tanto style knife! You can definitely see it from space! Her father came with her today, and since it was his 2nd class, he could make a dagger. He did such a good job hammering the cutting edges, there was so little for him to grind. It's a fantastic looking dagger!

Guest teacher for today's class! Kevin is one of our homeschool students. Forgone of his Boy Scout merits badges, he needed to teach a class. So he arranged to have a couple of his fellow Scouts come to the forge to make Railroad Spike Knives. He did great teaching, and all 3 Scouts made fantastic knives!
