Week of July 6 - 12

July 6

JJ was back this morning to continue working on her Mongolian Scimitar. Lots of progress made.

July 6

It was Christmas in July today! These two were given a class for Christmas. They did such a great job at making Railroad Spike Knives!

July 8

Birthday Knifemaking! Oh man, this group was so much fun! Filmore's brothers and friends came to the forge last night to celebrate his birthday. They were awesome! So excited about everything. And they made great knives!

July 10

Brian and his son were back this morning to finish their Billet Knives. These are beautiful! Both have a Brute de Forge textured finish. It looks great with the handles they picked.

July 10

Birthday Knifemaking! Caitlyn and Norm came in the forge tonight to make Railroad Spike Knives for Norm's birthday. Great couple, and great knives!

July 12

Alex and his father, Paul, were back in the forge! It's been a little while since they've been here, so it was really great to see them! They are starting their first Damascus knives. Both are planning on doing raindrop damascus. Today though was about that all important first forge weld. Alex got through the first one and got the second fold done, so he's up to 22 layers. Paul is starting with a significantly larger billet, so he got the first 13 layers together.

July 12

Great afternoon with this family of 3 generations! This class was a gift for Grandpa. He's a woodworker, but hasn't done metal before. It's always special to see knowledge passed down to the generations, so he taught his family how to use the drill press. They all learned plasma cutting, cold shaping steel, and welding. They made a beautiful bouquet of one every flower, plus 2 roses!
