Week of July 27 - August 2

July 29

Mandi and her father were back again, and they brought Mandi's brother and sister-in-law! Fun family time hitting steel around the fire! And of course, beautiful knives and daggers were made!!

 

July 29

Nate and his son were in the forge this afternoon to start their Billet Knives! These are going to be gorgeous knives!! Nate is doing a Japanese style chef knife while his son is making a cleaver. They did a great job. Next time we finish the handles.

Jesse and his son came to the forge tonight to make Railroad Spike Knives! They both chose to have the brute de forge texture on the blade, and a black finish. Beautiful knives!

 

July 30

Dan was a fantastic Guinea Pig Club member today!! He's the first one to do the chili pepper class! Lots of new skills, plus using ones learned in our other classes. Fun afternoon!

Brandon was back tonight. He brought his wife to make Steel Flowers! They did such a great job! Beautiful shaped flowers with a fire color finish.

 

August 1

GREAT class!! Benco Dental (they supply Dental equipment) brought their whole Michigan team in for teambuilding. 17 people from all over Michigan made Railroad Spike Knives! They were a great group!!

 

August 2

Alex and Paul were back this morning to continue working on their damascus, and they brought cupcakes from our neighbors The Victorian Bakery! They both got so much done today! The bricks of damascus they've been making were hammered into knives! Alex is ready for heat treat, finish sanding, and handle. Paul has some more grinding, then he will be finishing too. These quick motivation dips in the ferric chloride are showing absolutely gorgeous raindrop pattern damascus! They are going to be beautiful knives!!

 

August 2

Scott was back today to work on his damascus Kukri! He got the brick of damascus he made before shaped and started grinding. He did really well hammering out the tricky shape that the Kukri is. Next time he will probably finish.
