Week of April 12-18

4/12/25

It was a multitasking day for Evan this morning. A little work on his sword, another fold on his damascus, and then he made a hair pin!

4/12/25

Ross and his kids made fantastic Scary Cheese Knife this afternoon! He and his son had made Railroad Spike Knives with us before, but it was his daughter's first class. Fun to see them again.

4/13/25

Scott and his daughter Harlie were back! Scott is continuing his feather damascus. Harlie is working on a kitchen knife set for herself. Last time she was in the forge, she poured all her resin handles. So today she put them on the couple of knives she had ready. She also bought a mosaic pin for her set. Since she has a flock of chickens, she picked a chicken pin. It looks so great in her knife handles!!

4/13/25

Family Knifemaking! Great family this afternoon. They made beautiful Railroad Spike Knives!

4/15/25

This was a fun class! Scott got a Railroad Spike Knifemaking class for Christmas. He forged a beautiful knife, while his wife and daughter watched, and FaceTimed his son in Pennsylvania so he could watch.

4/16/25

Alexander and his brother, Leonard, were back yesterday to finish their damascus blades. Both of them are just beautiful. And they are both great examples of low layer damascus. You dont have to do hundreds of layers to get a dramatic pattern! Both are made from 1095, 15n20, and 1080. Alexander's is an 18 layer dagger. Leonard made a 36 layer twisted blade.

4/17/25

Another busy Homeschool morning today! Ben (from Level 1) came in to make-up a missed class and made a magic wand. Kevin and Sebastian continued working on their short swords.

4/17/25

Really fun couple this afternoon in the forge! Stephanie and Neal forged fantastic Railroad Spike Knives!
