Very fun class with Aaliyah and Arlon! She surprised him for his birthday with his first knifemaking class. I definitely think we will be seeing them again!

Brandon came to the forge for the first time today! He's a chef and co-owner of Legacy Table restaurant in Downtown Kalamazoo. He did a great job making a bushcraft style Railroad Spike Knife!

A magical morning in the forge for Level 1 Homeschoolers! It was railroad spike magic wand day! Magic Wands are all artistic choice. While they're a fun project, for the homeschool classes, they're also teaching some important skills. First, they learn about working with longer material and not being able to hear the whole thing at once. This is getting them ready for short swords next year. They also get to learn how to use Mr. Squishy (hydrologic press from Coal Ironworks ), which is always a fun time. And of coursebthey learn thay sometimes you can just have fun and a project doesn't have to have rules--it can be whatever you want. So we had 3 very creative magic wands, and 1 awesome back scratcher!

Breanna was in yesterday to start a damascus ring! She got it punched through to size and will start the grinding next time.

They came for welding, but stayed for the Billet Knife. Wyatt and his father, Jeff, came from the Chicago area for a welding class as a gift for Wyatt. Time worked out perfectly though because I had a weird gap between classes today. So we were able to do the Billeg Knife class too! They did great with all the classes!

Jessica and Catherine were a lot of fun in the forge tonight! They both made very shiny and very sharp knives!
